Bronx, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's basketball came up on the short end of a 77-55 decision in the CUNY Coaches vs. Cancer championship matchup against Drew University on Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles move to 2-8 on the season as the Rangers move to 8-2.

For the second straight day, sophomore Megan Steinman led the Golden Eagles with an 18-point performance.

Freshman Catherine Siounis finished in double digits with 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Freshman Julianna Knice pitched in with eight points and four assists. Senior Juliana Cintron-Leonardo recorded a team-best seven rebounds.

The Rangers were led by Erin Frederick who had 19 points and 10 rebounds. Joey Meyers added 17 points with six assists and Katrina Wojtowicz provided 12 points off the bench.

A slow start for the Golden Eagles saw them trailing 45-27 at the half. Drew's Wojtowicz knocked down all 12 of her points in the third quarter to help build the Rangers' largest lead of the day, 60-34, as they took a 66-46 advantage into the final frame.

A Steinman three in the opening minute of the fourth moved the score to 68. 49, but the Rangers answered quickly with a Campbell bucket and maintained a 20-point advantage the rest of the way.

Drew held a slight 37.3%-35.2% advantage from the field while taking advantage of 28 SJC turnovers and turning them into 32 points.

For her efforts over the weekend, Steinman was named to the All-Tournament team.

The Golden Eagles resume Skyline Conference play when they travel to face the U.S. Merchant Marines on Saturday, January 4 at 12:00pm.
