SKYLINE RELEASE

New York, NY|
Head Coach Robert Gomez and senior Sebastiano Bartolotta of the St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's soccer team claimed top honors  with seven Golden Eagles earning all-conference selections when the Skyline released its end-of-season awards on Saturday morning.

Bartolotta was named Defensive Player of the Year and joined seniors James Dacos, Giuseppe Vitale, freshmen Aidan Bayer, Jack Pulisic, and Marc Tolkin on the first team. Junior Sean Gordon landed on the second team.

In his second season at the helm, head coach Robert Gomez was named Coach of the Year after guiding the Golden Eagles to 12 wins, one loss, and two draws, including a program-record 12-game win streak this season and going undefeated in conference play through the regular season.

Bartolotta, a two-time All-Conference selection, led the Golden Eagles' defensive back line all season, allowing just 1.0 goals per game, good for first in the conference, to go along with five shutouts. Starting all 14 games on the season, the defender also scored one goal with two shots on goal.

Dacos has scored five goals for SJLI and currently ranks second on the team and in the conference with seven assists with 14 shots on goal for the season. The forward also sits in the top 15 in the conference with 15 points.

Vitale has compiled a record of 11 wins, one loss, and two draws in goal for St. Joseph's. The goalkeeper has recorded five shutouts and 45 saves. He currently ranks second in the conference, allowing just 15 goals this season, and second with a 1.09 goals-against average.

Bayer, another first-team selection, was part of a back line that helped provide five shutouts during the season, allowing just 1.0 goals per game. The freshman accumulated one goal, two assists, and three shots on goal while starting in all 14 games of the season.

Pulisic started all 14 appearances on the season. He led the Golden Eagles with 11 goals and 26 points, ranking fourth in the conference in both categories. The forward also added four assists to his resume this season.

Tolkin ranked second on the team and placed fifth in the conference, scoring 10 goals and 24 points this season. The freshman started just five matches with 13 appearances to collect four assists.

Gordon provided the back line with defensive stability and an offensive spark. The defender appeared and started in 14 games, collecting two goals and one assist with four shots on goal. The junior helped guide the SJLI back line, which allowed just 1.0 goals per game and five shutouts during the season, which was good for second place in the conference.

Senior Vincenzo Buffalino was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

The Golden Eagles enter the Skyline Conference Championship (12-1-2, 11-0-0 Skyline), as the No. 1 seed, and will host the winner of No. 5 Mount Saint Vincent and No. 4 St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in a semifinal match at Danzi Stadium on Wednesday, November 6 at 6:00 pm.
