The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's lacrosse team dropped their season opener 19-12 at Ramapo College on Saturday afternoon.

Top performers:

• Senior Emma Lange led the Golden Eagles with four goals and an assist while adding two ground balls and causing three turnovers

• Senior Jamie Trowbridge and freshman Sabrina Doyle both added two goals

• SJLI goalie Alyssa Downey recorded 10 saves 

• Kelly Griffin led Ramapo with a nine-point performance on seven goals and two assists

• Esme Espinosa finished with five points on three goals and two assists

• Keeper Daniella Indomenico tallied 10 saves

How it happened:

• The hosts score twice before a free position goal by Trowbridge put the Golden Eagles on the board with 10:24 on the clock

• Ramapo put up to more goals before Lange and Emily O'Mara found the back of the net ending the first quarter at 4-3

• The Golden Eagles were outscored 6-1 in the second frame and went into halftime trailing 10-4

• SJLI started the third frame with three unanswered goals to cut their deficit to just three, 10-7

• The Roadrunners ended the third on a 3-2 run and went into the fourth quarter leading 13-9

• The home team opened the scoring in the final quarter but was followed by a another free position by Trowbridge, 14-10

• Ramapo would go on to score on the possession followed by an extra-man opportunity taking 16-10 advantage with just over seven minutes to play

• SJLI's Lange and Doyle added goals closing the game to four, 16-12, with 5:37 on the clock, but the Roadrunners finished the game with three unanswered goals to clam the 19-12 win

Notes:

• St. Joseph's collected 10 ground balls compared to Ramapo who scooped up 17

• SJLI was 10-16 on clears while the Roadrunners went 20-24

• The Golden Eagles caused four turnovers to RC's five
