The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's lacrosse team dropped their home opener 22-5 to undefeated SUNY New Paltz at Danzi Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

How it happened:

The Golden Eagles were first on the board when Lange converted a free-position opportunity 33 seconds into the game

The Hawks responded with six unanswered goals before Trowbridge scored with 13 seconds left in the first frame

New Paltz went on to shut out SJLI, 6-0, in the second quarter and took a 12-2 lead into halftime.

The Hawks scored first in the third before an unassisted tally from Lange at the 10:50 mark

New Paltz outscored the hosts 5-0 through the remainder of the quarter for an 18-3 advantage

The visitors added a goal about a minute into the fourth followed by back-to-back goals from Trowbridge moving the score to 19-5 with just under nine minutes remaining in the game
