How it happened:

• The Valiants opened the game by scoring three unanswered goals to take an early lead just four minutes into play
• The Golden Eagles rallied to tie the game with just under five minutes to play before Cornelia netted the last goal of the quarter to put Manhattanville up by one to end the frame
• As Manhattanville found the back of the net first to start the second quarter, pulling ahead 5-3, Stubba and Carere provided much-needed goals to tie the game at five with five minutes left in the half 
• In the remaining five minutes of the half, the Valiants scored three unanswered to pull ahead 8-5, with the first half coming to a close
• Stubba added the first goal of the second half with a man-up opportunity to cut the lead to just one
