Women's Lacrosse Strong Second Half Downs MSMC

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's lacrosse team takes down Mt. St. Mary College in a back-and-forth showdown on Saturday.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Ippolito finished with three goals, two ground balls, and caused two turnovers
Graduate Student Emma Lange totaled three goals, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers
Sophomore Sabrina Doyle secured two goals and one assist
Junior Megan Spina tallied one goal, one assist, three ground balls, and caused three turnovers

Both teams traded goals to start the game, with the first 10 minutes of action seeing both teams find the back of the net twice
MSMC would go ahead to score two unanswered goals, as Delisianna Naccarato scored back-to-back goals to give the Knights a two-goal lead
Spina would put one past the keeper to cut the deficit to just one with one minute remaining before the Knights score one more to end the quarter, up by two (5-3)
Julianna Gentile would score a minute into the second quarter before Mt. St. Mary's outscored St. Joseph's 2-1 in the remaining 14 minutes of play, as halftime started with the score 7-5, in favor of the Knights
The Golden Eagles would shut out the Knights in the third quarter as Lange scored on a free-position attempt before Ippolito scored two goals to end the quarter, as SJLI took their first lead of the game (8-7) with 3:51 left in the third
MSMC scored the first two goals in the first 90 seconds of the final quarter to take back the lead, before Lange added one more to the scoring column to tie the game at nine with 12:49 left to play
The Knights would take back the league just forty seconds later and hold on to it for the next six minutes of play before Doyle tied the game (10-10) off the pass from Spina with 6:26 to play
Neither team would find the back of the net for the next five minutes until Lange scored on a free position attempt to pull the Golden Eagles ahead by one, and secure the 11-10 victory

The Golden Eagles will travel to the University of Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday, April 15, at 6:00 PM, for a Skyline Conference matchup.
