New York, NY| The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's and men's lacrosse teams were selected to finish fourth and seventh, respectively, according to the Skyline Conference's 2026 preseason coaches polls released on the conference's website on Thursday morning.
SJLI women's lacrosse team received 44 total points, finishing just four points behind Maritime for the third seed. USMMA collected 62 points with six first-place votes for first place, and Farmingdale St. tallied 58 points with three first-place votes to finish in second place.
Head coach Jill Pfeifer enters her third season with the Golden Eagles. The team looks to build on last year's success, which included finishing 6-6 overall and 5-3 in the conference and being eliminated in the Semifinals of the Skyline Conference Tournament.Â
SJLI men's lacrosse collected 13 total points, while Merchant Marine obtained the top seed with 46 points and five first-place votes. Farmingdale St. landed second with 44 points and three first-place votes, and Maritime received 39 points to secure the third place spot..Â
Head coach Matt Knote enters his second season with the Golden Eagles. In Knote's first season with the Golden Eagles, the team finished 3-9 overall and 1-6 in conference play. This year the squad welcomes new faces to the team and plans on building up to be a stronger team during the season.
